Synopsis: This unit provides the opportunity for students to carry out research and analysis of direct benefit to some organisation outside Monash University (government department, or non-government organisation) on a voluntary basis. In special circumstances an internship may be permitted to cover additional work flowing from the project conducted in ENV506C. A candidate may undertake only one internship.

Objectives: On successful completion of the internship students will have: 1. gained experience in a project which is of direct benefit to the environmental interests of a client organization outside of Monash University, 2. developed skills in project formulation, implementation, analysis and communication 3. enhanced their capacity to evaluate environmental policy and project work 4. improved their ability for self-evaluation in the context of environmental engagement

Assessment: Internship Journal (1000 words): 15% + Report (8000 words): 85%

Contact Hours: One 2 hour workshop in week 1 of the semester. Subsequent hours to be negotiated between supervisor, student and host organisation.
