Synopsis: A dissertation on an approved topic of the candidate's own choice. The topic should be approved well in advance so that a supervisor may be appointed and much of the work done during the long vacation and first semester. There is a short subject in methodology during some weeks of the first semester and a series of seminars to discuss work in progress.
