Synopsis: As for EDF8101 "Advanced studies in educational research and practice 1".

Objectives: The objectives of this unit are to assist students to make informed choices about how they will conduct their doctoral research; provide an overview of a range of theoretical frameworks related to ways of knowing; explore these research frameworks and debates surrounding them in relation to education practice; facilitate students' evaluation of various frameworks in relation to their specific research projects; assist students to examine at least one research framework in depth.

Assessment: Option 1. Two major research essays (2 x 5000 words each) or Option 2. One major research essay (5 000 words) plus one or two portfolios (equivalent to 5000 words)
