Synopsis: The contribution of research to issues and debates in professional practice. The practice-policy-research nexus in the context of teaching and learning, curriculum and policy and management.
Objectives: On successful completion of the unit you should appreciate a range of emerging issues, and professional and research debates in education; understand the relationship between research and professional practice; recognise the diversity of approaches in educational research; be able to draw your readings into an argument and literature review; have clarified a field of educational inquiry that you will pursue in more depth through other components in the EdD program.
Assessment: The assessment for this unit will be (1) a critical review (3000 words): 30% + (2) research papers (totalling 5,000 words): 70%.
