Clayton Second semester 2005 (Evening)
Synopsis: A minimum of thirty days of supervised special education school-based practical experiences. Units EDF6602 & EDF6614 meet the requirements for working as a special education professional in Victorian schools. Students must have their placements approved by the practicum coordinator.
Objectives: Upon successful completion of this unit, participants should have gained substantial experience in working with students with a range of disabilities in a range of school settings (eg. special and inclusive); an understanding of the principles which influence current approaches for students with special needs; and will have developed knowledge and skills appropriate to professional practice in collaboration with schools and community practitioners and incorporating policy on inclusive curriculum.
Assessment: Written assignment (4000 words): 50% + Practicum Diary (1000 words): 20% and Reflective Journal (3000 words): 30%.
Contact Hours: 3 hours per week
Prerequisites: EDF6601, EDF6611. Students must also have successfully completed or be concurrently enrolled in EDF6602 and have the approval of the unit coordinator
