Synopsis: This unit builds on the concepts introduced in EDF5440. Studies will further approaches to teaching and learning in geography and ways of assessing students' understanding of geographical knowledge and skills. Studies will also include the use and development of information and communication technologies.

Objectives: As a result of studying this unit and EDF5440 Methods and Practice of Teaching Geography A students are expected to understand the scope and purpose of school Geography; plan, resource, teach and assess Geography lessons and field activities; develop units of work which meet the requirements of curriculum documents for Years 7-10 and the post compulsory years 11 and 12; access, use and evaluate the role of Information and Communication Technologies in Geographic education; respond to current ideas about how students learn and apply them in their Geography classes; understand the role of Geography both as a separate discipline and as part of an integrated curriculum; understand the role of Georgraphic education in Civics and Citzenship Education.

Assessment: Multi-media development 25% Class presentation 25% + Successful completion of Practicum 50%
