Synopsis: School computer policy formulation, implementation and evaluation; the management of school computer resources and the roles of a computer resource person in professional development.

Objectives: Upon successful completion of this unit, students should be able to select an area of educational computing, identify how skills may be acquired in this area and specify in some depth their evaluation of its importance in the educational setting; formulate and develop a proposal for the implementation and on-going development/facilitation of school-based computer facilities; prepare for, transmit and argue the case for the integration of computers into the learning environment of the classroom; outline and discuss their personal learning theory, compare it to other recognised theories of learning and discuss this with reference to the use of computers in education; lead school-based decision making and on-going training with regard to the educational use of computers; present an informed position on the future of educational computing and their recognition of the need for staying up to date with current computing trends both in Australia and overseas; substantiate their reasons for promoting the educational use of computers in education elaborating on the key elements that should be included in a school computer policy.

Assessment: Three assignments (not to exceed 1500 words each): 33%
