Synopsis: The historical and political context and impact of technological change in general and computers in education in particular. Issues of gender, participation, equity, control, privacy and freedom of information.
Objectives: Upon successful completion of this unit, students should be able to outline the key issues in social commentary on computers, computing and technology from an educator's perspective; offer explanations of current ideas, critiques and trends in a form suitable for the school community; show evidence of a wide critical reading of the issues involved in the place of technology in modern society; relate their reading to critical reflection.
