Synopsis: Children's literature in the primary and secondary school curriculum, especially using books with children in the home and classroom situations.
Objectives: Upon successful completion of this unit, students should have developed knowledge and understanding of a wide variety of different types and forms of children's literature to be used for enjoyment and study in the literacy program; their own evaluative criteria in selecting literature for children and the type and amount of literature which is read both at home and at school by children; the uses of literature in the English curriculum across a range of areas; major resources in the area.
Assessment: Two essays (1000 words each): 25% each + Program (2000 words): 50%
