Synopsis: This unit provides opportunities for participants to review and improve key aspects of their work as adult educators. The concepts and techniques associated with action research and reflective practice are examined and applied. Participants undertake a work-based action research project, and engage in individual and collaborative processes of reflection and peer review within a supportive framework
Objectives: Upon successful completion of this unit, students should have developed an understanding of the nature and role of action research, reflective practice and peer review in adult learning and development; and the ability to plan, develop and evaluate an action research project that focuses on an aspect of their own professional practice and improves their effectiveness as adult educators.
Assessment: All tasks negotiated but equivalent in total to 4,000 words: 1: Reflective journal (40%) 1,500 words; + 2: Project evaluation report (60%) 2,500 words
Contact Hours: 2 hours per week
