Clayton First semester 2005 (Day)
Synopsis: This unit will consider work, organisation and learning from a sociological perspective. It begins by investigating the experience of work and how it is changing. The relationship between change, organisational development and learning is explored, as are the implications for the work of adult educators
Objectives: Upon successful completion of this unit, students should be able to describe in sociological terms the concepts of work, organisation and learning; identify and understand the essential links between work, organisation and learning; and apply this knowledge in their own workplace contexts.
Assessment: All tasks negotiated but equivalent in total to 4,000 words: 1. Report 1500 words (30%); 2. Case study 2,500 words (70%)
