Synopsis: This unit covers a range of information and skills designed to enhance participants' abilities and attributes as practitioners in the field of adult and work-related learning. This is accomplished through introducing study and research skills relevant to the effective development, delivery and evaluation of adult and workplace learning; creating an understanding of the contribution of research to community and workplace learning contexts; and developing an awareness of the value of ongoing professional development for community and workplace practitioners.

Objectives: Upon completion of this unit participants should be able to demonstrate a range of research skills with emphasis on applied techniques relevant to the creation of community and work-related learning environments; understand the contribution of research to community and workplace settings; and apply various methods and skills that enhance participants' practice and professional development as adult educators.

Assessment: Assessment tasks equivalent in total to 4,000 words: 1. Maintain a learning - 50% + 2. Develop an annotated list of adult and work-related learning - 20% + 3. A written brief comparison of two research-based articles on adult and/or work-related learning - 30%. NOTE: This unit is assessed at Pass Grade Only (PGO)
