Clayton Second semester 2005 (Day)
Synopsis: Many modern computer applications involve monitoring and control of electromechanical systems rather than traditional data processing tasks. Using robotic systems as a model the computer interfacing of a wide range of sensors and actuators will be considered. The course will also consider the mechanical design of robotic devices, the capabilities and operating principles of a wide variety of sensors and actuators, and programming paradigms/algorithms applicable to robotic devices will be assessed.
Assessment: Examination (3 hours): 70% + Laboratory and assignment work: 30%
