Clayton Second semester 2005 (Day)
Synopsis: Provides an overview of the issues involved in multi-service wide area networks and the architecture and technologies of carrier networks supporting converged services. Historical multi-service carrier network architectures. Convergence of networks and services. B-ISDN and ATM architecture. ATM protocols, signalling and switching. MPLS protocols signalling and switching. Network management and traffic engineering.
Assessment: Examination (3 hours): 70% + Laboratory and assignment work: 30%
