Synopsis: Clinical engineering involves the selection, implementation and support during use of complex systems of medical technology found in modern hospitals. The course includes an examination of clinical engineers in relation to the management of medical technology, an introduction to Australian and international standards that relate to medical equipment and devices, the equipment acquisition process, acceptance testing and the changing role of clinical engineers.
Assessment: Examination (3 hours): 70% + Laboratory and assignment work: 30%
Contact Hours: 26 lectures, 24 hours of practice classes and project work
