Clayton Second semester 2005 (Day)
Synopsis: Physical phenomena to monitor and measure: temperature, pressure, flow, direction, displacement, angle, vibration, linear and rotational velocity and acceleration. Transducers and Analog to Digital Converters. Transducer bridges and amplifiers. Solid state silicon transducers and smart sensors. Basic Electronics for use in Instrumentation: Operational amplifiers and signal conditioning Analog to digital converters of various types. Actuator Control: open and closed loop systems, simple control theory, servo systems.
Assessment: Examination (3 hours ): 70% + Tests and assignments: 30%
Contact Hours: 24 lectures, 24 laboratory and practice classes hours
Prerequisites: ENG1301 and MAE1415
