Clayton Second semester 2005 (Day)
Synopsis: The relationship of written text/s to performance as it is influenced by the theatrical context for which the play was written and the theatrical space or cultural place in which it was originally performed. Consideration of performance traditions, with processes to define and clarify them, will be compared with modern restagings of key works.
Assessment: Examination (2 hours): 40% + Essay (1500 words): 30% + Seminar tasks including one performance analysis: 30%
Contact Hours: 3 hours (1 x 1 hour lecture and 1 x 1.5 hour seminar) per week
