Synopsis: This unit extends existing knowledge of digital imaging and multimedia design into the production of interactive animation. Students will understand essential theory and concepts, the range of individual roles, technical skills and resources required for animation production. Individual exercises lead to the development of projects that explore the representation of gameplay, generative systems and other interactive processes through animation
Objectives: On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to: 1. understand the interactive animation production process; 2. understand theory and concepts that relate to interactive animation and games; 3. explore the representation of gameplay, generative systems and other interactive processes through animation; 4. define, develop, plan and organise content for interactive animation; 5. understand the range of individual roles, technical skills, and resources required for animation production; 6. develop and produce interactive animation projects; 7. observe and employ occupational health and safety appropriate to studio practice
Assessment: Exercises 40% + Major Projects 60%
Contact Hours: 12 hours per week, comprising 1 hour lecture, 2 hours tutorial and 9 independent study hours
Prerequisites: Must have passed units in MMD1302 and MMS1402 or DIS1704. Permission Required: Successful prerequisite study or approval from Course Coordinator
