Caulfield Second semester 2005 (Evening)
Synopsis: Applications of database and semantics, information filtering and pattern recognition techniques for the exploration of data in databases. Tools including Kohonen filtering, minimum message length classification and genetic algorithms. Statistical methods including moment measures, multiple regression, significance testing and harmonic analysis. Data quality. The expression of rules using a logic representation language is coupled with a study of basic linguistic semantics for quantifying user research dialogues.
