Synopsis: Characteristics of distributed information systems. Issues in a distributed systems environment. Distributed system development process and life cycle models. Client server architectures and architecture of Internet based information systems. Distributed system development methodologies, methodology processes, artifacts and actors, core workflows and tool support. Object orientation, its principles and concepts. Object oriented notations and Unified Modelling Language. Analysis and design workflows for distributed information systems. Architectural analysis. Distributing system behaviour and data. Open systems and relevant standards. Future directions in distributed systems development.
