Synopsis: Structure and basic facilities of UNIX; the file system; multi-user operation; UNIX shells; processes -- environments, interprocess communication, system calls, utilities; UNIX-C interface -- C shell scripts, file handling, processes, interrupts, system calls and libraries; UNIX for limited resource devices.
Assessment: Final exam: 50%, Assignments: 50%.
Contact Hours: 4 hours
Prerequisites: CPE1004 plus a further 12 points of Network Computing units.
