Communications Applied: Industry Practice ( 12 points, SCA Band 1, 0.250 EFTSL)

Synopsis: This unit provides students with advanced skills in seminar presentation and industry liaison. Students will identify a particular area of specialisation within the communication industry and develop networks and links with practitioners. Students will complete and present two papers in seminar format, and will participate in the organisation of guest lecturers and visits to industry.

Objectives: The objective of this unit is to study a significant issue in a defined industry sector, and to develop a network of contacts, and limited expertise related to that issue.

Assessment: Position Paper (3000 words): 30% + Outcomes paper (3000 words): 30% + Industry networking and liaison: 20% + Dossier and journal of liaison (3000 words): 20%
