Synopsis: Clinical practice is the practical side of the unit, and runs over both semesters. The first weekend will deal with finding points and practice with needling. The second weekend, will be devoted to case presentations which have been found over the years to be an excellent educational tool. Students will be allocated a mentor within close proximity and provided with at least ten sessions of practical instruction through the duration of the course.
Objectives: 1.To ensure that the students understanding from the theoretical basis, can be transferred into the practical clinical situation. 2. To make sure that each student can find the major acupuncture points on a patient, not simply to be able to describe the location. 3. Students should be able to work through a therapeutic protocol, and arrive at a combination of acupuncture points to be used in the treatment of their patients.
Assessment: 10 mentor sessions (30 hours), Case Presentation, Clinical Audit, Examination (100%).
