Clayton First semester 2005 (Day)
Synopsis: Approximate analysis of indeterminate structures. Concepts of load and resistance. Load factors and capacity factors. Design criterion for strength of structures. Two dimensional framed structures. Continuous beams and trusses. Flexural strength of beam cross-sections. Interaction of axial force and bending moment in the ultimate strength of steel beam columns. Welded and bolted connections.
Assessment: Examination (2 hours): 40% + Practical/project work: 60% + Students must pass both components to pass the unit
Contact Hours: 20 lectures and 26 practice classes
