Language Study Abroad Program ( 12 points, SCA Band 1, 0.250 EFTSL)

Synopsis: This unit will allow fourth-year students to complete the equivalent of twelve points of Chinese language study in six weeks intensive in-country study. The subject will be offered as part of the Monash in-country Chinese program between December and February at the campus of Shangahi International Studies University, People's Republic of China. The level of the in-country unit in which the student enrols is determined by the highest level of Chinese language completed. Unit content will be equivalent to that of the corresponding unit within the Chinese programs at Clayton and Peninsula. The workload for this unit will be not less than that required for two 6-point on-campus units.

Assessment: Assessment criteria will differ in accordance with actual subjects studied in-country. Written and oral work will be assessed by Chinese language staff of both Monash University and the host institution.

Contact Hours: 120 hours over six weeks (20 tutorials per week)
