Clayton First semester 2005 (Day)
Synopsis: Chemistry and properties of major biological molecules such as proteins, nucleic acids, carbohydrates, lipids vitamins. Enzymes. Cellular metabolism; regulation of metabolism. Introduction to microbiology. Microbial growth and its control; metabolic diversity; growth processes; environmental effects; suppression of growth. The scope of microbial biotechnology; important industrial applications of microbial processes.
Assessment: Examinations: 70% + Assignments: 30%
