Synopsis: This unit aims to develop an understanding of the principles, techniques and applications of computer models in business and industry. Topics include decision trees, project management, discrete-event simulation, forecasting, service levels and inventory control, financial modelling and other decision support systems. Students are also introduced to the modelling of 'real-life' problems using mathematical models, spreadsheets or computer packages, and conduct a sensitivity analysis of these models to the input parameters.

Assessment: Examination (2 hours): 70% + Assignment: 30% + Students must pass the examination in order to pass the unit.

Contact Hours: One 2-hour lecture and one 1-hour laboratory per week

Corequisites: BUS9530 or equivalent
