Synopsis: This unit provides an overview of the infrastructure, strategy, software and hardware systems for commercial applications of the Internet. Topics covered include web-based tools for Internet Commerce, web server hardware and software packages options, software packages applications for fundamental Internet Commerce services, such as catalog display, transaction processing, and shopping carts. The unit demonstrates the use of Object Oriented Programming to establish a B2C online shop on the .Net platform.
Assessment: Laboratory work: 10% + Assignment work consisting seminar presentation: 10% and written report: 20% + Examination (2 hours): 60% + Students must pass the examination in order to pass the unit
Contact Hours: One 2-hour lecture and one 1-hour laboratory per week
Prerequisites: BUS1060
