Synopsis: Time value of money, Cost of capital, Capital investment, Financing, Analysis and interpretation of financial statements, Valuation of business enterprises and securities, Reorganisations, Reconstructions, Mergers, Conversions, and Liquidations.

Objectives: On completion of this subject students will have: (1)Developed an understanding of the time value of money (2)Developed an understanding of the cost of capital. (3)Developed an understanding of accounting of capital investments. (4)Developed and understanding of accounting for earnings per share (5)Developed an understanding of financing. (6)Developed an understanding of the valuation of business enterprises and securities. (7)Developed an understanding of how transactions are recorded in respect of changes in equity and shareholdings. (8)Developed an understanding of how to advise clients as to the most advantageous way to overcome financial problems whether by means of reorganisation, reconstruction, merger, conversion or liquidation.. (9)Developed an understanding of how to convert one form of business enterprise into another form of business enterprise.

Assessment: Assignment (up to 3000 words): 15% + Mid-semester test 15% + Examination (3 hours): 70%
