Synopsis: This unit will consider the roles and impact of technology in financial markets and institutions; how information may be captured and used in financial markets and institutions to maximise shareholders' value; electronic processes in consumer, corporate and investment banking; cash alternatives, telephony, e-commerce, electronic share trading and electronic financial markets; security and prudential regulations in the financial sector; and the future of technology in finance.
Assessment: Examination (3 hours): 60% + Assignment (3000 words): 30% + Group presentation: 10%
Contact Hours: 3 hours per week
