Course description

This course is jointly offered by Monash's Department of Psychological Medicine and the University of Melbourne's Department of Psychiatry (Master of Psychiatry). The course aims to develop the knowledge and skills of medical practitioners working with patients with mental illness and offers practical training in the academic aspects of psychiatry.

Entry requirements

Applicants must be registered medical practitioners currently engaged in psychiatric practice, clinical training in psychiatry or with an interest in psychiatry.

Course structure

The degree is taken by coursework, part-time over three years.

Assessment

Continuous assessment will be based on submission of assignments and critical essays related to the core and elective units being undertaken for the degree. This may be supplemented by written and oral examinations.
