The course aims to prepare students to practise as advanced care practitioners in aged care, be able to demonstrate an ability to apply advanced problem-solving skills to patient care, and be equipped to respond to the health care needs of older persons in increasingly diverse and complex health care environments.
Applicants would normally have a degree in nursing or a related discipline; registration with Nurses Board of Victoria (Division 1 or eligible for registration); and at least one year of nursing experience. Experience in the relevant area of practice is desirable.
The course is offered by off-campus learning or by multimode mode (ie a combination of optional on-campus tutorials/seminars and off-campus learning). The course consists of three core units and one elective, which will normally be completed over a period of two years of part-time study. Successful completion of the course requires completion of the following units.

At Peninsula campus, there will be a series of optional tutorials/seminars provided on-campus throughout the semester to support study materials and clinical fieldwork.
Assessment includes assignments, examination, fieldwork report, literature review and contribution to computer conferencing activities.
