Course description

This course, offered by the School of Nursing & Midwifery, is designed for registered nurses who wish to gain the skills and knowledge necessary to care for people with psychiatric and mental health problems. It makes extensive use of computer technology to facilitate communication between students, teaching staff, clinical experts and consumers. The course is accredited leads to endorsement as a psychiatric nurse by the Nurses Board of Victoria.

Entry requirements

Applicants would normally have a degree in nursing or a related discipline; registration with the Nurses Board of Victoria (Division 1, or eligible for registration); and at least one year of nursing experience. Special entry may be available.

Course structure

This one-year part-time course is offered by off-campus learning mode and consists of the following three core units offered over two semesters.
