Supervision of PhD and research masters candidature is available. Refer to

section for course details. Areas of research specialisation include
19th-century French studies (especially Zola and the late 19th-century novel),
post-surrealist poetry, the contemporary novel, film studies, contemporary
popular culture, French political philosophy and social theory, translation
studies, language teaching methodology and computer applications to language
teaching. Work in the area of critical theory and practice focuses on discourse
theory and sociocriticism. The French studies program is home to the
Australian Journal of French Studies.
