The Centre for European Studies provides a focus for multidisciplinary teaching and research in European studies. Areas of research specialisation cover a wide range of fields in European culture, society, history and politics.
The
centre offers the PhD and masters by research (100%).
Modern European studies is recognised by the Faculty of Arts as one of its
areas of established research strengths. Members of the centre, together with
their colleagues in related disciplines, supervise masters and PhD research on
Europe (western, central and eastern) from the perspectives of political
science, international relations studies, and literary and cultural studies.
Arrangements for supervision in other interdisciplinary combinations can be
made. The centre supervises theses on contemporary European topics, as well as
European topics with a historical focus.
Refer to the research masters degrees and Doctor of Philosophy entries earlier
in this section for course details. For up-to-date information about research
areas, refer to the staff and research interest sections listed on the European
studies website at http://www.arts.monash.edu.au/european/about.html/.
