Graduate Certificate in Reliability Engineering

Course code: 1765 + Off-campus (Gippsland) + No attendance requirement + Cost: Australian students - TBA ($1437.50 per six-credit point unit in 2004); international students - $1750 per six-credit-point unit (2005)

The program focuses on reliability engineering and its application to optimise availability of systems. Students are mostly from the defence forces, defence-related industries, aerospace and process industry. Some of the content that applies to asset management is included in the Graduate Diploma in Engineering Maintenance Management and the Master of Maintenance and Reliability Engineering, along with other topics such as machine condition monitoring/ predictive maintenance.

Entry requirements

Applicants are required to have a four-year degree, or diploma in engineering or similar field, or a three-year degree from an approved institution, or other academic or industry-based training and relevant industrial experience that may be judged to give a good chance of success in the course. For applicants who do not have a degree, a resume (ie CV) detailing the applicant's industrial experience and certified by the applicant's employer must also be lodged with application. Details of responsibility level are helpful (ie budget, number of staff and value of assets for which the applicant is responsible).

Upon passing the graduate certificate program with average grading of 65 per cent or above, a student can articulate into the Graduate Diploma in Engineering Maintenance Management.
