The course is designed to allow engineers in full-time employment to update aspects of their academic training or to embark on a new area of training related to changed employment expectations.
Applicants are required to have a diploma in engineering or similar field, or a degree from an approved institution, or other academic or industry-based training and relevant industrial experience that may be judged to give a good chance of success in the course. (Note: applicants holding an engineering degree may apply for this program, but the graduate diploma may be a more appropriate program. Refer to the note above about reversion of candidature). For applicants who do not have a degree, a resume (ie CV) detailing the applicant's industrial experience and certified by the applicant's employer must also be lodged with the application. Details of responsibility level are helpful (ie budget, number of staff and value of assets for which the applicant is responsible).
Upon passing the graduate certificate program with average grading of 65 per cent or above, a student can articulate into the Graduate Diploma in Engineering Maintenance Management.
