Graduate and postgraduate courses

General information

Unless otherwise stated in the individual course entry sections of this publication, or previously in the `General faculty information' section, information on entry requirements, assessment, further information and application procedures for graduate courses are standard and are listed below:

Entry requirements

Executive certificates

Applicants must:
(i) have at least six years relevant employment experience, and
(ii) have been either an owner/manager or in a management/supervisor position or administering expenditure in excess of $500,000 pa for at least two years, and

(iii) be recommended by their employer or, if self-employed, provide suitable references.

Progression to further studies

Students who complete an executive certificate with an average grade of credit or above are eligible for admission to a range of graduate diplomas or masters offered by the faculty. Students may apply for advanced standing up to a maximum of four units towards the relevant graduate diploma or masters depending upon the units that have been studied in the executive certificate. Students who successfully complete the graduate diploma with an average grade of credit or above may be eligible to continue their studies in the relevant masters by coursework.

Graduate certificates

Candidates for admission to graduate certificate courses require a pass degree in any discipline or an equivalent qualification and, usually, relevant employment experience.

Graduate diplomas

Candidates for admission require a pass degree in any discipline or an equivalent qualification and, usually, relevant employment experience or a credit average in an executive certificate or graduate certificate in the relevant discipline.

Masters by coursework

Admission requirements for masters degree can vary considerably according to the degree concerned. Refer to the individual course entries for admission requirements.

Assessment

Assessment is by a combination of assignments and final examination for each unit. Generally, a pass is required in the final examination to pass the unit.
