Critical issues in design 3B (3 points)

Synopsis:

Objectives: 1.have a sound knowledge of aspects of the history of design and key issues in contemporary design, and be able to apply this to a range of product and design philosophies; 2.have developed skills in articulating the nature and significance of design, at a theoretical level, in relation to issues and, at a practical level, as applied to specific works; 3.have expanded their critical language and abilities to synthesize and reflect on knowledge as a foundation for making critical judgements about the quality and value of design principles in general and products in particular.

Assessment: One essay (1500 words): 50% + One class paper (10-15mins): 25% + Visual test (1 hour): 25%

Contact Hours: 2 hours lecture/tutorial per week, plus 4 hours of independent study

Prerequisites: TAD2211
