Perspectives on post-war practices 3B (3 points)

Synopsis:

Objectives: On successful completion of this unit, student will: 1.be able to identify and understand the critical issues characterising postwar visual practice; 2.be able to identify the salient elements of postwar styles of art or design; 3.be able to articulate verbally and in writing a critical analysis of movements and visual images or objects; 4.possess analytical and research skills enabling them to determine points of connection and divergence between the different discipline areas of art and design and historic and contemporary practices, including their own ambitions in studio practice.

Assessment: Short essay (1200 words) 40% + Long essay (1500 words) including class presentation 55% + Reader discussion 5%

Contact Hours: 2 hours lecture/seminar/tutorial and 4 independent study hours per week

Prerequisites: 2 second-year level TAD units

Prohibitions: TAD2102, TAD2112, TAD3102
