Spanish Linguistics in Trading and Communication (6 points)

Synopsis:

Objectives: By completion of the course, students are expected to have developed: 1. Awareness of the norms and value systems that modulate Spanish and Hispanic American discourse(s). 2. Knowledge of the predominant discursive features produced in business discourse in Spanish and English. 3. Knowledge of pragmatic features used in business interactions.

Assessment: Two tests (equivalent 1350 words): 30% + Research essay (1350 words): 30% + Class presentations (500 words): 10% + Two assessed exercises (1350 words): 30% + Third-year students are invited to show a greater degree of argumentative discourse through their writing of the research project.

Contact Hours: 3 hours (1.5 hour lecture and 1.5 hour tute/seminar) per week

Prerequisites: SPN1020 or SPN1080
