Synopsis:

Objectives: This unit enables students to: 1. Understand the nature, scope and purpose of social policy. 2. Understand the processes of formulating, implementing and evaluating social policy. 3. Understand conventional theoretical frameworks for analyzing social policy. 4. Examine the implications of a policy decision.

Assessment: Position paper (1000 words): 20% + Policy analysis (1500 words): 40% + Exam (2 hours): 40%

Contact Hours: 2 hours (1 x 2 hour seminar) per week

Prerequisites: SCW1305
