Field Education and Practice (12 points)

Synopsis:

Objectives: Upon completion of this subject students will be able to: 1. Demonstrate an understanding of welfare practice through participation in the ongoing work of an agency. 2. Integrate and apply relevant knowledge and skills in a practice setting. 3. Critically evaluate their values, attitudes and beliefs and the ways in which these can influence their practice. 4. Analyse and critique their role as an agent of change in social and community welfare practice.

Assessment: Pre-placement assignment (750 words): 10% + Learning plan (1500 words): 20% + Field education assignment (6000 words): 70% + To obtain a pass in the unit students will be required to pass each piece of work (the unit will be assessed as pass grade only).

Prerequisites: SCW1303, SCW1304, SCW1305 and SCW2304

Corequisites: SCW2303, SCW2307

Prohibitions: GSC2306, GSC3306, SCW3306
