Selective studies in medical imaging (12 points)

Synopsis:

Objectives: On completion of this subject students will 1. Be able to discuss different methods of knowledge acquisition and synthesis and be aware of the moral, ethical and legal responsibilities of scientific investigation 2. Understand basic research concepts and methodology and be able to compare a range of different approaches in research in both qualitative and quantitative experimental design 3. Understand the role and current range of research conducted in the Medical Radiation Sciences 4. Have experience in the use of a personal computer for data management, statistical analysis and scientific communication 5. Have developed a research proposal based on a selected topic, searched the scientific literature to obtain related information, collated and critically reviewed this scientific information and prepared a detailed project report 6. Have prepared and presented either a seminar or a poster on a selected topic.

Assessment: Essay/assignments: 30% + Research task report: 50% + Seminar/poster: 20%
