Synopsis:
Objectives: On completion of this unit students will have a clear understanding of the relevance of change in psychological practice and enterprise; evaluated the definitions and models describing how people change; analysed some of the processes that people use to change and adapt; better insight into facilitating change in the individual, group or organisation; better insight of the barriers to change in the individual, group or organisation; researched and critically examined one aspect of psychological change in depth; considered the use and limitations of instruments available to measure change; learnt some methods employed in psychological practice to demonstrate the efficacy of intervention; learnt of the integrative power of behaviours, attitudes, emotions and values in facilitating change; planned, implemented and evaluated the effectiveness of a group facilitated, individualized change program.
Assessment: Journal article evaluation (1,250 words) 25%, Semi-structured interview ( 1,250 words) 25 %, Self-change program (2,500 words) 50%
Contact Hours: 2 hours per week lectures for 13 weeks
Prerequisites: Enrolment in Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology
