Foreign Aid and World Development (12 points)

Synopsis:

Objectives: On completing this subject, students should be able to understand, analyse and assess the major philosophical and empirical arguments for and against foreign aid; understand the major trends in the theory and practice of foreign aid; understand the work of aid agencies; and engage in reasoned analysis and debate on the numerous contested issues in this field of study.

Assessment: Two essays (3,000 words each): 60% + Oral presentation (500 word equivalent): 10% + Workshop role play (2,500 word equivalent): 30%
