Synopsis:

Objectives: This subject details the ambulance role in disaster management. Content includes: state and federal counter disaster measures; the specific requirements of a large, displaced and homeless and volunteer population; identification and linking of triage disaster categories to treatment priorities and interventions; common types of injuries; and the approach to transport operations and allocation of ambulance resources.

Assessment: Examination: 40% + Assignments: 30% + Participation in table top exercise: 30%

Contact Hours: 156 hours including 24 hours direct contact

Prerequisites: employment by an Ambulance Service
