Synopsis:

Objectives: On completion of this unit the student will be able to: 1. Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of the health assessment concepts and processes, including the differences between functional, developmental and body systems health assessments. 2. Accurately record an in-depth client's health history. 3. Incorporate age related differences, cultural, and ethnic variations relevant to the client's health history. 4. Perform and document a systematic physical health assessment utilising health assessment tools and techniques. 5. Formulate nursing diagnoses based on an accurate analysis of health assessment data. 6. Perform a comprehensive health assessment using therapeutic communication skills in a selected area of nursing practice.

Assessment: Module 1: Clinical portfolio: 20 % + Exam: 20% + Literature review: 10% + Objective structured clinical Assessment (OSCA): Pass/Fail Module 2: Clinical portfolio: 20% + Case study: 20% + Oral presentation: 10% Objective Structured Clinical Assessment (OSCA): Pass/Fail

Off-campus attendance requirements: Attendance at residential schools held oncampus.
