Synopsis:

Objectives: On completion of this unit, students are expected to be able to: 1. identify appropriate nursing interventions based on nursing principles informed from literature reviews of valid scientific research (including mental health); 2. demonstrate competent utilisation of technology and therapeutics employed in patient care delivery; 3. plan, implement and evaluate nursing actions and outcomes for selected patients from pre-admission to post-discharge; 4. maintain a physical and psychosocial environment which promotes safety, security and optimal health in a simulated practice environment; and 5. demonstrate documentation skills which effectively communicate with other members of the health-care team.

Assessment: Classroom presentation: 25% + Assignment: 25% + Practical examination (OSCE): 50%
