Synopsis:
Objectives: On completion of this unit student are expected to: 1. Appreciate the importance of research to the foundations and development of the discipline of nursing; 2. Demonstrate an introductory knowledge of the research process; 3. Identify nursing problems that could be investiagted by research; 4. Outline the strengths and limitations of major research methodologies utilised in nursing; 5. Understand and perform simple descriptve statisics; 6. Outline the processes associated with qualitative data analysis; 7. Identify ethical considerations involved with the research process; and 8. Demonstrate a beginning ability to read and analyse research literature.
Assessment: Assignment: 40% + Examination: 60%
Contact Hours: 4 hours per week (lecture and tutorial)
